<p>Activists Tantawan Tuatulanon and Orawan Phuphong, who are undergoing a hunger strike to demand the release of political prisoners and judicial reform, will continue their hunger strike until every political prisoner is released, said their lawyer during a press conference on Saturday (4 February).</p>

<p>On Sunday (29 January), activists and protesters marched to the Ratchadaphisek Criminal Court to demand the release of political prisoners. Meanwhile, lawyers attempted to post bail for 12 people still detained pending trial or appeal, but were rejected.</p>

<p>6 opposition parties have issued a statement backing the&nbsp;call for the reform of the judicial system&nbsp;made by monarchy reform activists Tantawan Tuatulanon and Orawan Phuphong, who have been on a&nbsp;dry hunger strike&nbsp;since 18 January, but did not respond to their demand for political parties to back the repeal of the royal defamation and sedition laws.</p>

<p>During a protest at Chiang Mai University yesterday (23 January) to demand the right to bail for political prisoners, police attempted to detain two students and accused them of causing panic and misunderstanding by dressing like inmates.</p>

<p>MPs from the Move Forward Party (MFP) joined the protest in front of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) yesterday (23 January), which was called to demand the release of political prisoners.</p>

<p>To show support for the demands made by two activists now on a dry hunger strike in prison, activists in several provinces have staged protests to demand the release of all political prisoners and reform of the judicial system.</p>

<p>Thai&nbsp;authorities should immediately drop the charges and release two democracy activists detained for criticizing the monarchy, <a href="https://www.hrw.org/news/2023/01/20/thailand-free-detained-critics-monarchy">Human Rights Watch</a> said on Friday (20 January).</p>

<p>Following the detention of monarchy reform activists Sopon Surariddhidhamrong and Nutthanit Duangmusit, the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, a partnership of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT),&nbsp;launched an urgent appeal asking the international community to call on the Thai authorities to immediately release detained human right defenders and end all acts of harassment against them.</p>

<p>On Sunday (28 August), a group of activists marched 5 KM from the South Bangkok Criminal Court to the Siam Shopping District to demand that the courts stop requiring them to wear monitoring devices as part of their bail conditions as it disrupts their daily lives.</p>

<p>29 people are now detained pending trial or pending appeal on charges relating to political expression, after activist Sinburi Saenkla was denied bail on Monday&nbsp;(8 August).</p>

<p>An activist was arrested on Saturday night (30 July) and temporarily detained pending investigation on a royal defamation charge for speaking at a protest on 28 July to demand the release of detained activists.</p>
