<p>After repeated delays over the past 7 years, a bill to criminalize torture and enforced disappearance may be debated in parliament as part of an emergency agenda. Many past cases have involved activities by the authorities which will become illegal if the bill passes.</p>

<p>On 4 September, protesters gathered in front of the Swiss Embassy on Wireless Road for a planned march to the King Vajiravudh statue in Lumpini Park to call for monarchy reform, the resignation of Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, the immediate rollout of quality vaccines and a social welfare for all.</p>

<p>Nattacha Boonchaiinsawat, a Move Forward MP, has released voice clips, videos and documents regarding military operations creating fake social media accounts to conduct information warfare against the people and close monitoring of those seen as the Prime Minister&rsquo;s political enemies.</p>

<p>A family member of detained activist Thatchapong or Chatchai Kaedam, who recently tested positive for Covid-19, said that his condition has not improved, and his family and lawyer were not able to speak to his doctor or obtain information on his condition.</p>

<p>Thanat Thanakitamnuay, an anti-Thaksin campaigner turned pro-democracy activist has been accused for Section 112 of the Criminal Code for wearing an outfit similar to one worn by the late King Rama IX. Police also brought charges against an individual in Nonthaburi for allegedly removing a royal portrait and treating it in a disrespectful manner.</p>

<p>At least 260 protesters have been arrested during pro-democracy protests in August 2021, 70 of whom are minors, say <a href="https://tlhr2014.com/archives/34093">Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR).</a></p>

<p>The public prosecutor has decided to indict 19 members of the We Volunteer protest guard group, who face charges after being arrested on 7 December 2020 while <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/8955">clearing away razor wire left by the police at the Uruphong intersection.</a></p>

<p>On 29 August, protesters at-the-wheel struck again in at least 5 provinces to demand Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha&rsquo;s resignation.</p>

<p>Panadda Sirimasakul, member of the activist group Thalufah, was immediately re-arrested on Friday (27 August), after she was released from prison.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Members of the We Volunteer protest guard group filed a lawsuit at the Civil Court on 26 August against the Thai police for wrongful arrest, after they were arrested on 7 December 2020 while <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/8955">clearing away razor wire left by the police at the uruphong intersection</a>.</p>

<p>Thai Lawyers for Human Rights has reported that the Court of Appeal has allowed bail requests on behalf of Sirichai Natueng, Panadda Sirimasakul and Sam Samat, while rejecting those for 5 others detained for similar offences, citing a previous court ruling that they are likely to repeat violations of the law.</p>

<p>Ruangkrai Leekitwattana, a member of Palang Pracharat Party (PPRP) has filed a petition with the Election Commission (EC) to disband the Move Forward Party (MFP) on the grounds that an MFP proposal to reduce crown-related budget allocations for 2022 is an affront to the Kingdom&rsquo;s democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State.</p>
