<p>Fortify Rights and 16 individual complainants from Myanmar filed a criminal complaint with the Federal Public Prosecutor General of Germany under the principle of universal jurisdiction against senior Myanmar military generals and others for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, Fortify Rights announced on 24 January.</p>

<p>A businessman with alleged ties to Myanmar&rsquo;s junta leader, along with four other defendants, pleaded not guilty to money laundering and drug trafficking charges. The policeman spearheading the arrest has been transferred from Bangkok.</p>

<p>After it was reported last week that the Myanmar military government had sentenced to death 7 students from Dagon University in Yangon who participated in anti-junta protests, students in Chiang Mai went to the US Consulate and the Myanmar Consulate to file petitions protesting the death sentences.</p>

<p>Amnesty International Thailand submitted petitions to the Thai government, APEC host country calling for an end of the bloody crackdown in Myanmar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite mounting international pressure for energy companies to withdraw from Myanmar to prevent the ruling junta from filling its coffers and fuelling airstrikes on civilians, Thai PTT Group continues to own and operate natural gas fields in the country.</p>

<p>For a few tense hours last week, Thai Senator Upakit Pachariyangkun was wanted for arrest in connection with an alleged drug trafficking and money laundering ring operating out of a casino in the Golden Triangle.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In its open letter on 15 June, 677 Myanmar civil societies demanded ASEAN defence ministers not invite&nbsp;the Myanmar minister of defence to attend the&nbsp;upcoming ASEAN Defence Ministers&rsquo; Meeting (ADMM).</p>
