Human rights organizations have demanded an independent investigation after a Lao activist was shot and killed in a Vientiane coffee shop on Saturday (29 April).

<p>Two activists who were attacked last week filed a petition with UN representatives on Thursday (3 November) calling for the UN to pressure the Thai authorities into investigating the attacks, after no progress was made by the police.</p>

<p>On Sunday (28 August), a group of activists marched 5 KM from the South Bangkok Criminal Court to the Siam Shopping District to demand that the courts stop requiring them to wear monitoring devices as part of their bail conditions as it disrupts their daily lives.</p>

<p>A network of civil society organizations dealing with children&rsquo;s rights filed a complaint on Monday (18 April) with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), after Ministry officials were reported to be involved in the detention of 3 teenage activists on 15 April.</p>

<p>Activist and human rights lawyer Anon Nampa remains in detention, after he was denied bail by the South Bangkok Criminal Court despite being granted bail by other courts, while student activist Parit Chiwarak was released yesterday (24 February 2022) after his lawyer presented evidence of his enrolment at Thammasat University.</p>

<p>At least 9 activists in Nakhon Sawan Province have reported visits and intimidation by police officers throughout the past week ahead of Princess Sirindhorn&rsquo;s visit to the province on Monday (7 February 2022).</p>

<p>The Appeal Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the family of murdered indigenous activist Chaiyaphum Pasae to claim damages from the Army, after two military officers shot Chaiyaphum dead on 17 March 2017.</p>
