<p>The gender equality activist group Feminist&rsquo;s Liberation Front Thailand staged a protest on Saturday (9 October) to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, constitutional amendments, and monarchy reform to create a democracy for all.</p>

<p>The Constitutional Court has postponed to 14 December 2021 a hearing on a petition filed by an LGBTQ couple and the Foundation for SOGI Rights and Justice (For-SOGI) to rule whether the current Thai marriage law violates the 2017 Constitution.</p>

<p>LGBT activists held a demonstration on Saturday (25 July) at the Democracy Monument in the name of gender equality, LGBT rights, and democracy, as well as calling the government out for their failure in handling the Covid-19 pandemic and demanding the dissolution of parliament.</p>

<p>The Thai Cabinet yesterday (8 July) approved the Civil Partnership bill, which was proposed by the Ministry of Justice to allow for same-sex couples to register their partnership, and has submitted the bill to the House of Representatives Coordination Committee for consideration before it goes before Parliament.</p>

<p>The Thai parliament on 2 July invited public consultation on the proposed amendments to the sections on marriage and family in the Thai Civil and Commercial Code which will allow LGBT couples to get married.</p>

<p>On 31 December 2019, the Constitutional Court of Thailand decided not to accept a <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/8284">petition</a> made by two LGBT couples and the Foundation for SOGI Rights and Justice (For-SOGI) on 22 November 2019, requesting the Court to rule whether the current Thai marriage law violates the 2017 Constitution.</p>

<p>A team of lawyers from NSP Legal Office, together with the Foundation for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Rights and Justice (For-SOGI), is preparing to file a request with the Constitutional Court of Thailand to rule whether Article 1448 of the Civil and Commercial Code, the law which governs marriage, is in contradiction to Section 27 of the 2017 Constitution.</p>
