<p>Representatives of Amnesty International Thailand and Wanchalearm Satsaksit&#39;s family went to the Cambodian Embassy to seek progress on Wanchalearm&#39;s case.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Following the arrest of human rights lawyer Anon Nampa and student activist Panupong Jadnok earlier today, Amnesty International called on the Thai authorities to drop charges against the pair and to end the crackdown on freedom of expression as well as ensure the safety of those involved in protests.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.amnesty.or.th/en/latest/news/844/">Amnesty International</a> issued a letter today (31 July) to the Royal Thai police to urge them to not arbitrarily interfere with peaceful public assemblies and called on the police to&nbsp; to discharge their positive obligations to ensure and facilitate respect for human rights, including the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.</p>

<p>Human rights activists, legal experts and politicians are demanding laws to protect citizens from enforced disappearance while calling on the Thai and Cambodian governments to show responsibility for the disappearance of Thai dissident Wanchalearm Satsaksit.</p>

<p>In addition to pressure from Thai civil society, the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the Socialist Party of Malaysia have called on the Thai and Cambodian authorities to immediately address and investigate the abduction of Wanchalearm Satsaksit in Phnom Penh.</p>

<p>Amnesty International issued a statement on the 10th anniversary of the 19 May 2010 military crackdown on the Red Shirt protests, calling for the Thai authorities to immediate prosecute those responsible and provide full reparation for relatives of the victims and survivors.&nbsp;</p>
