<p>Two months after authorities in Thailand lifted severe emergency restrictions on peaceful protest, Amnesty International remains deeply concerned that Thai authorities are continuing to escalate and intensify their crackdown on peaceful protesters and those expressing support for them across the country.</p>

<p>The Cambodian authorities must redouble their efforts to thoroughly, independently and impartially investigate the disappearance of Thai dissident Wanchalearm Satsaksit and determine his fate and whereabouts, said Amnesty International today (8 December).</p>

<p>Six months after the disappearance of activist-in-exile Wanchalearm Satsaksit, his friends and representatives of Amnesty International went to the Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok to submit a name list of 14,157 individuals who urge Cambodian authorities to ensure&nbsp; effective, urgent, thorough and transparent investigation and to restore justice to Wanchalearm&rsquo;s family.</p>

<p>Sitanun Satsaksit, sister of missing activist-in-exile Wanchalearm Satsaksit, is travelling to Cambodia to testify in her brother&rsquo;s case, says <a href="https://www.amnesty.or.th/latest/news/864/">Amnesty International</a>.</p>

<p>Following the report of a court order to <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/8859">suspend</a>&nbsp;Voice TV&#39;s online platforms, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have issued statements on the government&#39;s attempt to shut down media outlets.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Thai police&#39;s use of water cannons to disperse protesters on&nbsp;16 October was unwarranted and excessive, says Amnesty International, who calls on the Thai authorities to release peaceful protesters and lift restriction on freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Four months after the disappearance of activist-in-exile Wanchalearm Satsaksit, last seen in Phnom Penh, his family is still searching for answers as there has been no progress in the investigation into his abduction.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Amnesty International issued a call for an urgent action against prosecution of Thai political activists, inviting supporters to submit an appeal to the Thai government demanding that it drops all charges against protesters and end all effort to obstruct peaceful assemblies. The campaign will run until 21 October.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, the student activist group Spring Movement and Amnesty International Thailand organized the &ldquo;Separation/(Silence)&rdquo; exhibition at the 14 October Memorial in memory of victims of enforced disappearances in Thailand.</p>

<p>Following the arrest of nine&nbsp;activists between Wednesday night (19 August) and Thursday morning (20 August), Amnesty International said that the Thai authorities are weaponizing the law to silence dissent and call for them to drop charges against the activists.&nbsp;</p>
