A royal defamation case against Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, leader of the Progressive Movement, has been dismissed. The case stems from Thanathorn’s criticism of the government's COVID-16 vaccine procurement programme and its strong relationship with a private company owned by King Vajiralongkorn.

Over four decades, efforts to decentralize power to local authorities in Thailand have faced significant challenges, with progress often hindered by stumbling blocks. Despite some advances, repeated political conflict has consistently held back progress, making the dream of true decentralisation elusive.

Activists and politicians, including former PM candidate Pita Limjaroenrat, former Future Forward members and other 3 individuals, have been sentenced to four months in prison over a 2019 flash mob protest. The sentence was suspended for two years.

The Supreme Court has upheld an Appeal Court order to ban Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit’s video clip ‘Royal Vaccine: Who benefits and who doesn't?’, saying that the clip attracted several comments which may affect national security.

<p>MPs from the Move Forward Party (MFP) joined the protest in front of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) yesterday (23 January), which was called to demand the release of political prisoners.</p>

<p>An ultra-royalist known as &ldquo;K 100 Million&rdquo; (เคร้อยล้าน) attacked Progressive Movement leader and former Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit as he was signing books at the Progressive Movement Foundation&rsquo;s booth at the annual National Book Fair at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre on Sunday (23 October).</p>

<p>The leader of the Progressive Movement has said that he will take legal action against right-wing media and government agencies for violating his data privacy and spreading misinformation over his vaccination status and personal travel.</p>

<p>A spokesperson for the Office of the Attorney General said yesterday (22 April) that a criminal charge against Thanathorn Juangrungruangkit will be dropped. The former leader of the dissolved Future Forward Party was accused of running in the 2019 general election despite already knowing that he held shares in the V-luck Media company in violation of electoral law.</p>

<p>Responding to the questioning of the government&rsquo;s Covid-19 vaccination programme and its strong relationship with private company funded by King Rama X, government representatives teamed up to file lèse majesté and computer crime charges against the leader of the Progressive Movement.</p>

<p>The leader of the Progressive Movement admitted that&nbsp;none of his candidates won election to Chief Executive of any Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO). However, 57 of his candidates won election as PAO Council members in 20&nbsp;provinces.&nbsp;</p>
