<p>The criminal court has acquitted a Myanmar ex-employee and a human rights advocate sued for defamation by Thammakaset, a Lop-buri based chicken farm company, over a video interview about bad working conditions. The verdict found the video was fair comment.</p>

<p>Thai chicken farm company Thammakaset has filed two new criminal complaints against former human rights commissioner Angkhana Neelapaijit and Fortify Rights Senior Human Rights Specialist Puttanee Kangkun for their tweets and re-tweets expressing support for human rights defenders facing lawsuits from Thammakaset and linking to&nbsp;news releases published by Fortify Rights about the cases.</p>

<p>Today, the ICJ submitted recommendations on strengthening Thailand&rsquo;s Anti-Strategic Litigation against Public Participation (SLAPP) law to the Ministry of Justice, which is tasked to conduct a &ldquo;study on the guidelines for development of laws, regulations or measures to prevent SLAPP,&rdquo; in accordance with Thailand&rsquo;s First National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (2019 &ndash; 2022) (NAP).</p>

<p>Yesterday (24 December), the Lop Buri Provincial Court sentenced former Voice TV reporter Suchanee Cloitre to two years in prison in a libel case filed against her by the Thammakaset Company.</p>

<p>On 5 August, a second hearing was held at the Criminal Court in Bangkok to examine the grounds in the defamation case brought by Thammakaset Company against Ngamsuk Ruttanasatian, a lecturer in the Institute for Human Rights and Peace (IHRP) at Mahidol University.</p>
