<p>Amnesty International has launched its 20th Write for Rights campaign, which includes a call for justice for Thai student activist Panusaya Sithijirawattanakul, currently <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9558">detained pending trial</a> on royal defamation charges.</p>

<p>On 13 November 2021, the performers&#39; network RasaDrums staged a flashmob in front of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) to demand the right to bail for detained activists.</p>

<p>Student activist Panusaya Sithijirawattanakul has been denied bail on a royal defamation charge relating to a protest on 20 December 2020, in which activists wore crop tops at Siam Paragon shopping mall to campaign for the repeal of the royal defamation law.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, 3 November, the Criminal Court granted bail to 4 activists detained pending trial on charges relating to an incident on 3 August 2021 when paint was splashed in front of Thung Song Hong Police Station.</p>

<p>Student activists Benja Apan and Nutchanon Pairoj have been sentenced to jail on contempt of court charges stemming from <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9213">a protest at the Ratchadapisek Criminal Court on 29 April 2021</a> to demand the release of detained activists.</p>

<p>On Monday, 1 November, student activist Panusaya Sithijirawattanakul and representatives from <a href="https://www.amnesty.or.th/en/latest/news/965/">Amnesty International Thailand</a> submitted a petition to the prime minister to demand the release of detained activists and an end to the prosecution of protesters.</p>

<p>Student activist Benja Apan has been denied bail for a third time yesterday (21 October), after she was arrested on 7 October 2021 on a lèse majesté charge in connection with&nbsp;<a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9393">the 10 August 2021 protest</a>.</p>

<p>Songpol &ldquo;Yajai&rdquo; Sonthirak, an activist from the Thalufah group, has been detained pending trial on charges relating to an incident on 3 August 2021 when paint was splashed in front of Thung Song Hong Police Station.</p>

<p>3 members of the activist group Thalufah were denied bail after 15 members of the group surrendered to the police over an arrest warrant issued with regard to an incident on 3 August 2021 when they splashed paint in front of Thung Song Hong Police Station.</p>

<p>An ex-detainee and socialist activist has addressed activists&#39; difficulties in getting bail. This, together with poor conditions within prisons, has forced many political prisoners to confess.</p>

<p>The mother of student activist Panusaya Sithijirawattanakul&nbsp;has received a police summons on a charge under the Emergency Decree, after she joined a protest demanding her daughter&rsquo;s release.</p>

<p>Student activist Panusaya Sithijirawattanakul, who has been detained pending trial on a royal defamation charge, has been granted bail, while Siraphop Phumphuengphut, another student activist, has been denied bail and detained pending trial.</p>
