On 18 February, Chulalongkorn University (CU) vice rector Chaiyaporn Puprasert issued a letter announcing disciplinary action against Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal and Pitchakorn Roeksomphong, the president and first vice president of the CU student government.  The action included removing Netiwit office.

Protest leaders Parit Chiwarak, Anon Nampa, Panupong Jadnok and Jatupat Boonpattararaksa were again denied bail, according to Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR).  The four have already spent 3-4 months in jail pending trial.

On 22 November, 9 activists were found guilty of contempt of court and sentenced to 10 days in jail by the Thanyaburi Provincial Court according to Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR). 3 of the activists are already in jail pending trial on other charges.

Despite Thammasat University’s initial reluctance to allow any commemoration event this year, their change of mind at the midnight the night before allowed the commemoration to go ahead at the scene of the 1976 massacre.
