<p>Thai Lawyers for Human Rights has reported that the Court of Appeal has allowed bail requests on behalf of Sirichai Natueng, Panadda Sirimasakul and Sam Samat, while rejecting those for 5 others detained for similar offences, citing a previous court ruling that they are likely to repeat violations of the law.</p>

<p><a href="http://tlhr2014.com/archives/33655">Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR)</a> reports that the Courts have denied bail requests from 10 individuals held for participating in recent protests.&nbsp; The courts contend that all ten are likely to violate the law and cause further disorder, if released.</p>

<p>Nine activists have been arrested on charges relating to a protest in front of the Border Patrol Police Region 1 headquarters on 2 August 2021 to demand the release of <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9377">32 detained activists</a>.</p>

<p>On 1 June, the Criminal Court granted bail to activists Chukiat Sangwong, Anon Nampa and Panupong Jadnok, who were previously detained pending trial on royal defamation charges, on a security of 200,000 baht each with the condition that they must not participate in activities damaging the monarchy.</p>

<p>The Criminal Court has approved bail requests for activist Parit Chiwarak and singer Chaiamorn Kaewwiboonpan. The request for Panupong Jadnok was delayed until the next Covid-19 test is declared.</p>

<p>Four people currently facing royal defamation charges and detained pending trial have been granted bail: activists Jatupat Boonpattararaksa and Somyot Prueksakasemsuk, and two other people who were previously detained at prisons in Chiang Mai.</p>

<p>Ignoring the long Songkran holidays and a new surge of Covid-19 infections, people have started to demonstrate their sympathy with the pro-democracy protesters who are in detention without being proved guilty by joining the detainees in fasting and by protesting in front of the Supreme Court.</p>

<p>Scholars At Risk (SAR) called on the Thai authorities for the immediate release of three detained students activists and for all charges against them to be dropped.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Prison guards attempted last night (15 March) to take activists Jatupat &ldquo;Pai Dao Din&rdquo; Boonpattarasaksa and Panupong Jadnok out of the wing where they are being held, claiming that they needed to be tested for Covid-19, says human rights lawyer Anon Nampa in a petition filed with the Criminal Court.</p>

<p>The court&rsquo;s rejection of bail for 4 pro-democracy activists on 8 March is raising questions about procedural irregularities as 3 of them were taken from court before they were allowed the opportunity to complete bail requests, while another was sent to a prison other than the one designated by the court.</p>

<p>On 8 March, the criminal court ordered the detention pending trial of Panusaya Sitthijirawattanakul, Jatupat Boonbattararaksa and Panupong Jadnok, leading figures in the pro-democracy protests, on sedition, royal defamation and several other charges. Piyarat Chongtep, leader of the We Volunteer protest guard group also detained for criminal organization.</p>

<p>5 leading figures of the pro-democracy protest went to hear charges at Chanasongkram Police Station for addressing the monarchy. 3 more have received police summonses.</p>
