<p>According to Pol Col Suchart Wong-ananchai, Inspector of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, the Ministry has shut down and blocked over 50,000 websites which violated the 2007 Computer Crimes Act. Websites concerning national security were the most numerous.</p>

<p>Reporters Without Borders and the World Organization for Human Rights USA (“Human Rights USA”) are outraged that Anthony Chai, an American citizen from California, was interrogated by Thai officials in Thailand and again later in the U.S. for allegedly insulting the monarchy in 2006. Originally from Thailand, Chai was granted US citizenship in the late 1970s. He faces possible arrest if he returns to Thailand.</p>
<p>A student in Had Yai received a surprise phone call from Abhisit Vejjajiva after he had sent an SMS to the PM condemning his road map proposal. &nbsp;He claimed to have been told that Thaksin was paying coalition politicians 100 million baht per head to switch sides. &nbsp;Abhisit admitted making the call, but denied that he had said this about Thaksin.</p>
<p>On the morning of 5 May, www.prachatai.net was blocked by the CRES. &nbsp;The page was redirected to http://58.97.5.29/www.capothai.org, with the message: Access is temporarily suspended, as ordered by the CRES under the 2005 Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations.</p>

<p>On 1 May, Private Thiwanont Thienthes, 23, was reported dead at his house in Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. &nbsp;Dressed in full military uniform, he was found to have hung himself from a tamarind tree in the backyard.</p>
