<p>The Student Government of Chulalongkorn University (SGCU) has proposed that 6 October of every year be designated the International Day for the Protection of Students&rsquo; Freedom of Expression.</p>

<p>The gender equality activist group Feminist&rsquo;s Liberation Front Thailand staged a protest on Saturday (9 October) to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, constitutional amendments, and monarchy reform to create a democracy for all.</p>

<p>In a <a href="https://youtu.be/ejc4pJ5eHX0?t=5469">One Channel News</a> interview, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said that Phitcha-on (formerly Jarinya) Kiatlaphanachai, the former Director of TAT&rsquo;s New York office, and Monthira Prakhongphan, the office&rsquo;s former Deputy Director, have been found guilty of using stolen documents to claim unwarranted reimbursements.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>On 10 October, a 14-year-old boy was taken from his house to the Din Daeng Police Station and pressured to confess that he shot a crowd control police officer in the head on 6 October, according to <a href="https://twitter.com/TLHR2014/status/1447293965019975680">Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR)</a>.</p>

<p>Art critic Pearamon Tulavardhana reports that she has received a court summons on a charge of defamation by publication filed against her by Chiang Mai University lecturer Pongsiri Kiddee, after she published an article on an exhibition organized by the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC).</p>

<p>Chiang Mai University student and performance artist Withaya Khlangnin is facing another royal defamation charge for staging a performance in front of the university on 1 May 2021 to demand the release of detained activists.</p>

<p>Student activist Benja Apan was arrested yesterday (7 October) on a lèse majesté charge in connection with <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9393">the 10 August 2021 protest</a>&nbsp;and has been denied bail.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In August 2020, two Thai residents in the United States filed complaints with the local police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) against the former Director and Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) New York office over using stolen identity documents to falsely claim reimbursements.</p>

<p>Despite Thammasat University&rsquo;s initial reluctance to allow any commemoration event this year, their change of mind at the midnight the night before allowed the commemoration to go ahead at the scene of the 1976 massacre.</p>

<p>Three activists filed a complaint with the Civil Court today (5 October) against the Prime Minister and military commander-in-chief, asking the Court to repeal the 15th order under the Emergency Decree, which bans public gatherings, on the grounds that the order is a violation of basic rights and freedoms.</p>
