<p>Activists and protesters gathered in front of the Bangkok Remand Prison on Sunday evening (26 December) to celebrate student activist Panupong Jadnok&rsquo;s birthday, after he was denied bail along with 3 other activists last Friday (24 December).</p>

<p>A protester has been sentenced to 2 months in prison on a contempt of court charge for cutting his arm in court to protest the denial of bail for detained activists.</p>

<p>Student activist Nutchanon Pairoj has been sentenced to 2 months in prison on a contempt of court change relating to a <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9218">protest in front of the Ratchadaphisek Criminal Court on 30 April 2021</a> to demand the release of detained student activist Parit Chiwarak.</p>

<p>Student activist Panusaya Sithijirawattanakul has been granted bail to allow her to complete class projects and take her final examinations, after spending 17 days in detention.</p>

<p>A flashmob took place in front of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) on Saturday (20 November) to demand the right to bail for activists detained pending trial on charges related to participation in pro-democracy protests.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Amnesty International has launched its 20th Write for Rights campaign, which includes a call for justice for Thai student activist Panusaya Sithijirawattanakul, currently <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9558">detained pending trial</a> on royal defamation charges.</p>

<p>On 13 November 2021, the performers&#39; network RasaDrums staged a flashmob in front of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) to demand the right to bail for detained activists.</p>

<p>Student activist Panusaya Sithijirawattanakul has been denied bail on a royal defamation charge relating to a protest on 20 December 2020, in which activists wore crop tops at Siam Paragon shopping mall to campaign for the repeal of the royal defamation law.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, 3 November, the Criminal Court granted bail to 4 activists detained pending trial on charges relating to an incident on 3 August 2021 when paint was splashed in front of Thung Song Hong Police Station.</p>

<p>Student activists Benja Apan and Nutchanon Pairoj have been sentenced to jail on contempt of court charges stemming from <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9213">a protest at the Ratchadapisek Criminal Court on 29 April 2021</a> to demand the release of detained activists.</p>

<p>On Monday, 1 November, student activist Panusaya Sithijirawattanakul and representatives from <a href="https://www.amnesty.or.th/en/latest/news/965/">Amnesty International Thailand</a> submitted a petition to the prime minister to demand the release of detained activists and an end to the prosecution of protesters.</p>

<p>Student activist Benja Apan has been denied bail for a third time yesterday (21 October), after she was arrested on 7 October 2021 on a lèse majesté charge in connection with&nbsp;<a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9393">the 10 August 2021 protest</a>.</p>
