Nai In stores have stopped selling Khabuankan Lom Chao (Movement to Topple the Monarchy), part of the ASTV/Manager network.  The yellow camp media argue on academic grounds that the book has not been spiced up as a smear.

ASTV/Manager Online reports that Mr Thongnat Phenchana, Purchasing Manager of Amarin Book Centre Co Ltd, sent a letter on 4 March to the editorial department of ASTV/Manager, publisher of Khabuankan Lom Chao, asking to stop distribution of Khabuankan Lom Chao in Nai In stores.  The reason given is: ‘The political situation is violent and the stores have received complaints from many customers, which it is feared will cause divisions in society.  The Publication Review Committee of Nai In stores has decided to stop selling the abovementioned book temporarily.’

The ASTV/Manager Online report adds comments in the form of arguments against Amarin Book Centre Co.  ‘If the stores and Amarin Book Centre Co Ltd truly intend to protect the monarchical institution and promote the wide dissemination of information to the public, it should have no reason to stop selling a book which exposes a movement to injure the institution and which presents evidence and facts in confirmation.  On the contrary, intentionally stopping distribution prevents the general public from learning the facts.’

It also claims: ‘All information has academic references.  It is not spiced up to smear anyone.  On the contrary, it is a report of the facts that has evidence and documentation that cannot be refuted.’

The news article claims that the book has had ‘5 printings in only 2 months and each printing has been quickly sold out.’

Khabuankan Lom Chao has been through 5 printings.  The cover of the first printing shows a cutting from a portrait of Phaya Kuena, former ruler of Chiang Mai who built Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, drawn from imagination.  The artwork of the book erased the face of Phaya Kuena and pasted in a portrait that looks like Pol Lt Col Thaksin Shinawatra.  The cover of the latest 4th and 5th printings uses a red background with pictures similar to Pol Lt Col Thaksin and the King Taksin memorial statue.
