Sereepisuth Temeeyaves, party list MP and the leader of the Thai Liberal Party (TLP), has announced his resignation from the party list MP position.  He will retain his role as the leader of the party.

Wirat Warotsirin, a former TLP MP, confirmed the news on 30 August 2023. According to Matichon Online, the effective date was set for 1 September 2023.

During a press conference, Sereepisuth told reporters that he resigned on 23 August 2023, the day after the parliament voted Pheu Thai Party’s Srettha Thavisin to become the next PM.

Rumoured to have resigned out of disappointment that he was not included in the new administration, Sereepisuth stated that he is not obsessed with position and remains solely focused upon performing his responsibilities. He added that, as this is his second time serving as an MP, he wanted to offer the position to another member of the party.

He further explained that he initially had a responsibility to help the Move Forward Party (MFP) form a government. After the MFP failed to become a government, he threw his support behind the PTP. Following its success in the PM vote, he decided to resign and take on other responsibilities.

He reiterated that his party remains in the PTP-led government, even though he recently filed a petition calling for an investigation of Patcharawat Wongsuwan, a Palang Pracharath Party member who is slated to become a key minister in the administration. He added that his support for PTP does not extend to former government parties.

The next in line to become a party list MP is Mangkorn Yontrakul, TLP Secretary-General. Sereepisuth will continue to serve as TLP leader.
