Student activist Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal and members of the Humanities Beyond Borders group went to the Chinese Embassy yesterday (3 June) and handed out cookies to passers-by as part of their commemoration event for the 31st anniversary of the 4 June 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

Ministry of Interior has dismissed an appeal to nominate Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal to be Amnesty's Board Member. Amnesty will file a lawsuit, but the student activist fears that when he get the position back, his term will already be over.

Two belligerent youths have entered Chulalongkorn University to look for Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal, a progressive student activist recently elected as the Student Council’s president of Chulalongkorn University .     At 11 am on 8 May 2017, two individuals rode a motorcycle onto the university’s campus in Bangkok and visited the Political Science Faculty to look for Netiwit. The two reportedly used threatening language to ask for the whereabouts of the student activist.

A group of students has staged a small protest demanding that the junta send student activist Joshua Wong safely back to Hong Kong. The prominent activist is expected to arrive in Hong Kong this afternoon.         On 5 October 2016, Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal, together with other students from Chulalongkorn University, held a protest demanding that the junta release 19-year-old student activist Joshua Wong, a key leader of Hong Kong’s Umbrella Movement and Secretary-General of the Demosistō Party.

Update: Thai junta rejects involvement in Joshua Wong’s detention. Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd, the spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, said the government has no involvement with the detention against Wong but it is actually the judgement of immigration officials, reported BBC Thai. The Thai authorities have detained Joshua Wong, a leading student activist from Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement, at the request of the Chinese government.
