With tensions running high over the possibility of a protest being staged when HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited Nakhon Sawan Province on 7 February, a police officer allegedly slapped a young man and forced him to sit down for the passing royal motorcade. A date-stamped video clip of the incident was posted by an activist, Phimchanok Jaihong. The Nakhon Sawan Provincial Cultural Office confirmed that HRH Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited Wat Sri Utum Phon in the Muang Nakhon Sawan District on 7 February.

At least 9 activists in Nakhon Sawan Province have reported visits and intimidation by police officers throughout the past week ahead of Princess Sirindhorn’s visit to the province on Monday (7 February 2022).

A fraudster has been arrested for lèse majesté after deceiving villagers into thinking she was a volunteer nurse under one of the late King’s royal projects.    On 11 November 2016, police officers in Nakhon Sawan Province arrested Wandi Laikhlaidok, 48, for defamation, fraud and lèse majesté.

A participant in the Bike for Dad cycling rally to honour HM the King has filed a lèse majesté complaint against Nakhon Sawan provincial authorities for giving him a fake Bike for Dad shirt. According to Thairath News, Banjong Lueadthahan, a participant in the Bike for Dad cycling rally from Mueang District of Nakhon Sawan Province, on Wednesday evening filed a complaint under Article 112 of the Criminal Code, the lèse majesté law, against the provincial administration of Nakhon Sawan Province.
