<p>A protest took place in front of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) on Thursday (10 December), which addressed issues of the rights of people with disabilities, including the right to receive state welfare.</p>
<p>Citing further legal protections for LGBT people, the Thai authorities have introduced a bill to ‘certify’ gender identity. LGBT experts, however, have asked why they need the state to approve their gender identity at all.</p> <p>On 14 March 2017, leading LGBT activists and legal officers from the Office of Women’s Affairs and Family Development (OWAFD) under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security gathered at a public forum to discuss the Gender Certification Bill drafted by OWAFD.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The Finance Ministry has proposed an austerity measure to slash out the monthly stipend for Thai elderly citizens whose monthly income is above 9,000 baht per month.</p> <p dir="ltr"><a href="">Matichon Online</a> reported that Wisudhi Srisuphan, Deputy Minister of Finance, on Monday morning, 16 May 2016, told media at the Government House about the proposal of the Finance Ministry to withdraw a monthly financial support of 600 baht given to the country senior citizens.</p>
