<p><em>World's major human rights groups unite to campaign for investigation into North Korea's crimes against humannity</em></p> <p>The world&rsquo;s three largest international human rights organizations, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), along with 40 other organizations from around the world, today launched a major global campaign to seek the establishment of a United Nations (UN) Commission of Inquiry to investigate crimes against humanity in North Korea.</p>

<p>Paris-Bangkok, May 16, 2011. Accountability for human rights abuses perpetrated during the March-May 2010 street protests remains seriously lacking one year following government operations that violently ended the Red-Shirt protests, all the while as the authorities continue to curtail freedom of expression with draconian legislations, said the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and its member organization, the Union for Civil Liberty (UCL).<br /> &nbsp;</p>
<p>On 12 April 2011, European Union Member States will renew the European policy on Burma.</p> <p>ALTSEAN Burma, the International Federation for Human Rights, Info Birmanie and the French League for Human Rights are deeply concerned by the continued failure of the European Union to publicly support a UN Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into credible and serious allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Burma. The establishment of a CoI must be included in the Council Conclusions.</p>

<p>Paris-Bangkok, 27 September 2010 - On Friday, September 24, 2010, at approximately 2.30PM, the Thai immigration police arrested Ms. Chiranuch Premchaiporn, executive director of Prachatai, an independent news website, at the Bangkok Airport on charges of defaming the monarchy of Thailand and of violating articles 14 and 15 of the 2007 Computer-related Crimes Act and article 112 of the criminal code. Ms. Premchaiporn was returning from Hungary, where she had attended a conference entitled The Internet at Liberty 2010.</p>
