<p>As a hyper-royalist doctor has said that he wanted to visit Perth, Australia, from time to time as a part of his retirement plan, a&nbsp;Thai political academic in exile, launched an online campaign on Change.org, calling for the Australian government to deny him entry in response to his witch-hunts against free speech activists.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On 9&nbsp;September&nbsp;2021, over 60 former and current parliamentarians from across Southeast Asia have signed an&nbsp;open letter&nbsp;to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, urging his administration to take urgent action to support human rights and democracy in Myanmar, and express concern about its stated policy to wait on action by the ASEAN.&nbsp;</p>

<p>(Sydney, April 30, 2015) –&nbsp;<a href="http://www.hrw.org/asia/australia" target="_blank">Australia</a>&nbsp;should withdraw plans to send refugees from Nauru to&nbsp;<a href="http://www.hrw.org/asia/cambodia" target="_blank">Cambodia</a>&nbsp;in the face of continuing abuses against those already in Cambodia, Human Rights Watch said today. Cambodia should reject its deal with Australia and focus on providing proper protections to the refugees and asylum seekers already on its soil.<br /></p>

<p>The Australian Government continues to have grave concerns about the actions of the military in Thailand.</p> <p>Since the military seized control of government functions on 22 May, the Government has registered our concerns to authorities in Bangkok through Australia’s Ambassador to Thailand and the Thai Embassy in Canberra.</p> <p>In line with our concerns, Australia is reducing our engagement with the Thai military and will lower the level of our interaction with the Thai military leadership.</p>

<p>On a small island, out of sight and out of mind, some 2,600 kilometres northwest of the Australian coast, thousands of refugees have been held behind barbed wire in a high-security detention centre while their asylum applications are being processed. </p>
