<p>On International Day of Democracy, Southeast Asian lawmakers called on governments in the region to end all forms of threats and harassment against opposition MPs, following the&nbsp;publication of a new report&nbsp;that documents such reprisals. ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) also called for solidarity among lawmakers from across the political spectrum.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Three years since the mass atrocities committed against the Rohingya population by the Myanmar Army, parliamentarians in Southeast Asia are reiterating their calls for the Myanmar government to restore the fundamental rights of the Rohingya, and fully cooperate with international justice mechanisms.</p>

<p>Regional lawmakers today called on Thai authorities to immediately and unconditionally drop charges against human rights lawyer Anon Nampa and student activist Panupong Jadnok, and to ensure that all those participating in peaceful protests can do so without fear of reprisals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Southeast Asian parliamentarians have today (5 August) called on Cambodia&rsquo;s authorities to immediately release and unconditionally drop all charges against union leader Rong Chhun, who was arrested late last week, and to end all attacks on those that peacefully voice their concerns.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Southeast Asian lawmakers on 29 June called upon the UN Human Rights Council to act on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights&rsquo; findings by establishing an international independent investigation mechanism into the human rights violations committed in the Philippines since 2015.</p>

<p>ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) expresses its deepest condolences to the family and many friends of renowned academic and politician Kraisak Choonhavan, who passed away on evening of 11 June.</p>

<p>Following the recent abduction of Thai political activist Wanchalerm Satsakit in Phnom Penh, regional MPs are today calling on the Cambodian and Thai authorities to investigate the case and ensure his safety as a matter of urgency.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On&nbsp;Workers&rsquo; Memorial Day, and World Day for Safety and Health at Work, MPs are calling for Southeast Asian governments and companies in the region to increase efforts to protect workers&rsquo; rights to healthy and safe conditions amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On&nbsp;International Earth Day, and as the coronavirus epidemic rages on in Southeast Asia, and the rest of the world, regional MPs are today warning of the need to combat climate change and environmental destruction in order to lower the risk of future health emergencies.</p>
