Pathumwan District Court of Bangkok has dismissed charges against an anti-junta activist indicted for protesting against the coup in May 2014. Pathumwan District Court on Thursday morning, 11 February 2016, dismissed charges against Apichat P., an anti-coup activist, who had been charged with violating the junta’s National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Order No. 7/2014, which prohibits any political gathering of five or more persons.

Eight student activists, including a student who was arrested for giving the anti-coup three-fingered salute at the Hunger Games 3 premiere last week, were arrested after they distributed anti-coup leaflets at Thammasat University, Tha Prachan campus. Most of the students are from the League of Liberal Thammasat for Democracy. Natchacha Kongudom, a Bangkok University student who was arrested on Thursday, also joined them. At press time, the police had taken them to police stations.

Thai military in Northern Chiang Mai Province arrested an activist on Thursday night after she took and shared a photo of her holding a sheet of paper reading “No Martial Law” and “No NCPO.” The military said free expression is allowed only when the second phase of the junta’s reform plan starts in September 2015.

Life in Thailand is growing more absurd by the day. Earlier this week Gen. Prayuth Chan-Ocha, the leader of the junta that seized power in May and later anointed himself prime minister, was beginning a speech in the northeastern province of Khon Kaen when five local university students stood up and stripped down to t-shirts emblazoned with “Don’t Want a Coup” in Thai.

The military at 10 am on Thursday released the five student activists from Khon Kaen University with no charge. Since Wednesday the military has tried to force the group to sign a document stating that they admit their wrongdoing in protesting against the coup and promising not to hold any further political activities, according to Jatupat Boonpattararaksa, a fifth year law student who is one of the five. On Thursday two students complied while three others refused to sign the document.

Thai people gathered at the Hunger Games: Mockingjay premiere in London to protest against suppression by the junta after the Thai anti-coup protesters in Bangkok adopted the three-fingered salute from the movie to symbolize resistance. Mockingjay is the last movie in the Hunger Games trilogy, based on the novel of the same title by Suzanne Collins.

A military court in Northern Chiang Rai Province on Thursday sentenced an anti-coup protester to three months in jail and fine of 5,000 baht, with the jail term suspended for one year.

Seven protesters wearing Guy Fawkes masks gathered in Bangkok’s financial district to show their disapproval of the coup and the new interim charter which grants an amnesty for the coup makers on Thursday evening. The protesters gathered for photos for only five minutes on the Chong Nonsi BTS Skywalk on Thursday 6.20pm.

Prom Jarana, a land rights activist and member of the Assembly of the Poor, who was detained by the military on Thursday mornng has been released, according to the Assembly of the Poor. The Assembly reported on its Facebook page at 10.30pm that the 65-year-old activist safely arrived his house around 8pm of Thursday.

Thai police arrested Supanmanee Choochaw on Friday after she joined an anti-coup protest at the Victory Monument and sprayed "No Coup" on the hood of the military’s Humvee on Wednesday.
