<p>Prachatai spoke to a number of participants in the demonstration, including a group of student observers from Chulalongkorn University, a family with a young child, a man campaigning for a more open beer production law, Spokedark TV&rsquo;s Winyu Wongsurawat, and art critic Thanom Chapakdee, about their goals in joining the protest at the Democracy Monument on 16 August.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Last night&rsquo;s student protest is now dubbed the largest demonstration in Thailand since the 2014 military coup, after more than 20,000 people joined to press their three demands for the government.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Women for Freedom and Democracy group has set up a station at today&#39;s protest at the Democracy Monument for people to sign their petition calling for the decriminalization of abortion.</p>
