The former president of the Student Council of Chulalongkorn University has petitioned the Administrative Court to invalidate the university’s order that punished him for protesting during a university initiation ceremony.

On 9 February 2018, Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal and his lawyer submitted a petition to the Central Administrative Court. He asked the court to revoke the university's order on 30 August 2017 which penalised him, as well as seven other students, for disrupting a freshman initiation ceremony.

The order deducted their student behaviour points by 25, making them ineligible to hold any political positions and participate in some university’s activities. The punishment subsequently led to the dismissal of the eight from the student council. At that moment, Netiwit has been in office as a president for only three months.

Netiwit also sued the university for 80,000 baht as compensation of the eight students.
