On Aug 14, Triumph Labour Union vowed to continue its campaign until its demands are met by the employer, the Body Fashion (Thailand) Ltd.

According to union leader Jitra Kotchadet, who was dismissed from work on July 30, as of Aug 13, the company had still not met the union’s demands.  Instead, the company issued a statement that it would continue to employ the workers, provided that they individually signed waivers of disciplinary punishments.  Jitra said that civil and criminal liabilities would probably still stand, though.

The union was hiring lawyers to reopen Jitra’s case at the Samut Prakan Labour Court, but it was still uncertain whether this would be possible.

The union’s demands include the reinstatement of its union leader, no reprisals against workers who join the protests, and the removal of executives who lack labour relations and maintain a hostile stance against the union.

The union argues that the executives have full authority to reinstate the union leader, because the court’s ruling was only permission for dismissal, not an order.
