A well-known whistleblower has asked the Thai junta for protection after being allegedly harassed by unknown men.  

On 21 November 2016, Srisuwan Janya, secretary-general of a political group called the Association to Protect the Thai Constitution (APTC), reported being intimidated by unknown men in a letter submitted to the Office of Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC), Bangkok.
 
Srisuwan is known for filing complaints against government agencies to demand transparency and accountability.
 
He said that on 17 November, when he was about to drive home, some men took photos of him The men in two vehicles then followed him briefly and only left after he drove to Bang Khen District Police Station, Bangkok.   
 
The incident happened after he filed a lawsuit to the Central Administrative Court against the Energy Minister Gen Anantaporn Kanjanarat and four relavent public agencies, asking the court to to nullify the Thailand Power Development Plan 2015-2036.
 
He urged Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, the junta leader and Prime Minister, to extend protection.  
 
Srisuwan added that he has already collected evidence and submitted a complaint to Bang Khen District Police Station.
 
Srisuwan is also chair of the environmental group Association Against Global Warming.
 
The whistleblower has been summoned at least twice for ‘attitude adjustment’ sessions — detention with forced lectures by the military — for accusing high ranking officers in the Thai junta of corruption and cronyism.
