The Military Court has sentenced a close aide of the late royal astrologer involved in organising the ‘Bike for Dad’ event in 2015 to three years and six months in prison.

The Military Court of Bangkok on Monday, 1 August 2016, handed a three years and six months sentence to Jirawong Watanathewasilp for offences under Article 112 of the Criminal Code, the lèse majesté law.

Jirawong was an assistant to Suriyan Sucharitpolwong, aka Mo Yong, a fortune-teller involved in organising the ‘Bike for Dad’ event in late 2015 for the Crown Prince, who was arrested in October 2015 together with Suriyan and Pol Maj Prakrom Warunprapha.

According to the police, the three were all accused of lèse majesté for claiming ties with the Crown Prince to gain financial benefits from sponsors of the Bike for Dad event.

Jirawong is the only surviving suspect of the three.

According to the authorities, Pol Maj Prakrom died in late October after he hanged himself while in custody at the remand facility in the 11th Military Circle, Bangkok. In early November, Suriyan was pronounced dead of a blood infection while in the same remand facility.
