A 27 year-old man has been arrested and detained at a military base after he allegedly posted comments and infographics about the Rajabhakti Park corruption scandal online.

According to Krungthepturakij, Pol Gen Srivara Ransibrahmanakul, the Deputy Police Chief, announced that the police have arrested a suspect accused of offences under the 2007 Computer Crime Act for posting comments and infographics about corruption allegations surrounding Rajabhakti Park online.

Krungthepturakij reported that at around 9 pm on Tuesday, 8 December 2015, police officers from Samut Prakan Police Station arrested Tanakorn Siripaiboon, a 27 year-old factory worker, at his house in Mueang District of Samut Prakan Province.

The police alleged that he posted the infographics and information about the Park corruption scandal on an anti-junta Facebook page, hinting that more arrests will be made.

At press-time, Pawinee Chumsri, a lawyer from Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR), is seeking permission from the authorities to visit Tanakorn at a detention facility.

TLHR stated that if the authorities do not permit Pawinee to visit the detained, she will file a complaint to the court under Article 90 of the Criminal Procedure Code that the authorities have ‘unlawfully’ detained the suspect.
