A high ranking palace officer accused of citing about the monarchy for personal gains.

According to Krungthepturakij News, Pol Gen Somyos Pumpanmuang, the chief of the Royal Thai Police, on Wednesday morning held a press conference over an arrest warrant of Montri S., a high ranking officer of the Bureau of the Royal Household of Thailand, under Article 112 of the Criminal Code, aka. lese majeste law.

The court granted the arrest warrant against the suspect to Thonglor and Bangrak Police Station of Bangkok on Monday and Tuesday.

According to the warrant, Montri is alleged for falsely claiming about the monarchy for personal interests.

The police requested for the arrest warrant against Montri after they were informed by the junta’s National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) that the suspect allegedly cited the monarchy to obtain positions in the executive boards of PTT Public Company Limited, the state owned oil and gas company, and CAT Telecom Public Company Limited, the state-owned company that runs Thailand’s international telecommunications infrastructure.

 In addition to Article 112, the suspect is also accused under Article 148, 149, and 157 of the Criminal Code, including, Article 123 and 123/1 of the 2009 Anti-Corruption Act.

Montri is also accused of accepting bribe in brokering a property deal in the western province of Phetchaburi as well.
