The Israeli Ambassador to Thailand on Thursday harshly criticized Rungkun Ktiyakara, who shares Queen Sirikit’s former family name, for his anti-Semitic Facebook statement which denied the holocaust.

“It is a pity that a well-educated person with better opportunity than others to obtain reliable information lacks common sense to differentiate facts from propaganda,” said Simon Roded, Israeli Ambassador to Thailand in the statement. 

The ambassador also added that "it would be most unfortunate if the motive behind this revolting post came from the need of a person who wants only to draw attention to himself, by expressing distorting facts on such a well-known and well documented atrocities" and said "this post indeed shows the anti-Semitic sentiments and ignorance of the writer.  It is very shameful and the writer is a disgrace to his country."

The press officer of the Embassy of Israel in Thailand confirmed with Prachatai the authenticity of the statement, issued on Thursday. 

The relative of Queen Sirikit, holding title of Mom Luang, posted the controversial statement on his Facebook profile on April 20 and it has gone viral among Thai Facebook users. 

In the statement, Rungkun praised Adolf Hitler for leading Germany out of an economic crisis and blamed the Jews for ruining the German economy. 

“Although Adolf Hitler had some flaws, his genius and patriotism were great,” said Rungkun in the statement.
