Kritsuda Khunasen, a missing activist who was detained by the military for more than three weeks, appeared on a news programme on the Army’s Channel 5 on Tuesday night, saying that she was satisfied with her living conditions and “happier than words can say.”

News programme on Channel 5 where Kritsuda appeared for interview
27-year-old Kritsuda was arrested by the military in Chonburi province on May 28. Since then the military had not revealed her whereabouts until human rights organisations such as Human Rights Watch called on the junta to reveal her place of detention.
Kritsuda said on the programme that she had requested the military to keep her under the military’s watch after seven days due to “safety reasons”.
Under Martial Law, the military can detain a person only for seven days without charge.
The news section revealed a smiling Kritsuda giving an interview and having a meal with her boyfriend who was also detained after the coup. She said she was satisfied with what the military has provided her, whether food, accommodation, or any other request.
It also reported Kritsuda as saying that detention made her feel “calm by spending more time by herself.” She said she wanted the political conflict to start over by having all sides talk, according to the report.
She also dismissed a viral video clip done by a person claiming to be her brother, saying that she was tortured. She said that was false information.
Before the coup, Kritsuda was active in a group providing support for red shirts affected by the 2010 political violence.
