The trimonthly Same Sky journal, an academic journal which constantly criticizes the lèse majesté law and the establishment, has sent a letter to its subscribers saying that they will indefinitely delay publication of the journal due to the climate of fear.

Same Sky editor Thanapol Eawsakul was one of the first people summoned by the military junta. He was arrested for protesting against the junta and later detained without charge for seven days. He was also forced to sign an agreement to stop political activities.

“The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has enforced censorship measures and extensive control over media content. Under these circumstances, the Same Sky publishing house has inevitably been affected.

“Same Sky journal has been targeted. This has created a climate of fear among everyone in the production line. For the safety of everyone, the Same Sky editorial staff decided to delay publication of the next issue. When the opportunity arises, we will again publish and deliver the journal to our subscribers and sell it.”

The letter is signed by Thanapol and dated June 3.
