The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has warned the Thai people not to join anti-coup protests, which they say have been paid by the "outlawed gambling financiers" in order to incite unrest against security officers.

Army Deputy Spokesperson Colonel Nattawat Chancharoen said following the incitement of protests via social media that offer to pay 400-1,000 baht each, the NCPO is doing all it can to solve the country’s problems and to maintain peace and order. The colonel emphasized that the people should not be tools of those with ill will.

Regarding an anti-coup protest at Victory Monument in the afternoon today, the NCPO announced that it would try to avoid clashes, and to negotiate. If the protest continues, the NCPO will employ strict measures, said Colonel Nattawat during a television announcement around 9.50 p.m.
