The Office of the Attorney General has received from the police the case of a recent graduate from Kasetsart University who was accused of lèse majesté, and set up a committee to consider it.

Last week, the Crime Suppression Division forwarded the case of Norawase Yospiyasathien, 23, who had been accused of lèse majesté and computer crimes, to the Director General of the Department of Criminal Cases, after police investigators had decided to prosecute the suspect.

Norawase was arrested on 5 Aug and granted bail three days later.  He told the police that he had no intention to commit the offences.  He just wrote personal comments, which were not offensive, in his e-mails and did not publicly publish them, but some persons hacked his e-mails and published them through Facebook without his consent.

On 7 Nov, the Director General of the Department of Criminal Cases set up a committee to consider this case as it had attracted much attention from the public.  The committee is expected to make a decision whether to pursue the case or not in early December.
