Akeyuth Anchanbutr, owner of Thaiinsider.com, called Yingluck a “stupid bitch” who was brazen enough to take her position and should reconsider what job is suitable for her.  He said uneducated, lazy and stupid women from the north were likely to become prostitutes. This prompted a demand from groups opposing Akeyuth for an apology.

On 2 Nov, Akeyuth openly posted a Facebook message stating “I don’t want to say this, because it might sound like I look down on women, but the fact is, uneducated or lazy and stupid northern women will happily do work that normal women wouldn’t do, like prostitution. So should a northern woman, who is unintelligent and stupid, but happens to have the position, know what job is suitable for her?”

That message received many ‘like’ clicks and criticisms. Akeyuth responded by saying “I’m sorry if I offended anyone, but please read my message closely. I didn’t accuse or look down on anyone, but actually you probably know who I meant. I respect rights and every profession, but I don’t accept certain brazen people who have caused damage to this country. And prostitutes don’t harm anyone, but some people who don’t have the intelligence shouldn’t apply to get in.

“You probably mean that prostitution deserves praise, that’s fine. I think if we see things differently, it’s not disgusting. But if you think your opinion is superior to others then that opinion might not need expressing. What I say is my responsibility, of course. I’m not rambling or mad. Whatever it means you can decide for yourself. Don’t impose your judgment on others. If you accuse me of looking down on her, be my guest. But I’m saying I despise lazy folk who just want to get along in an easy way. What you think is your affair.”

After that, Akeyuth didn’t respond in the same thread, but posted new threads criticizing the work of the Yingluck government. Those who saw this were upset by his posts.

“The position of Prime Minister doesn’t belong to a family, and it’s also not a place for an apprenticeship. If you don’t have the intelligence, then don’t take it.”

“The media asked the government and many big shots if they wanted aid from abroad.  The answer is ‘we can help ourselves’. That’s why we often hear ‘we can handle it’”

“Mark’s government sold eggs by the kilo, but Pu’s government sells eggs at 8 baht each. Don’t worry because it’s an “egg crab” government”

“The only thing this government is good at is being “นักกู้ (savers or borrowers)” starting from “save us from the floods” …”save investors’ confidence”…”borrow the money”…It’s good that Sondhi (Limthongkul) did not join this government, otherwise we might have to “save the nation” again.

“Some gullible groups get fooled by someone rambling on who’s creating the image and who had to fall into the status of escaped prisoner. They can’t stand it and don’t accept the truth when I say “you’re stupid to want this job”, and they’re all furious."

When someone posted a link to ‘People who love the north call on Akeyuth Anchanbutr to come out and prostrate himself at the feel of a northern woman …’, Akeyuth replied:

“I know, but I think that what this lot is trying to say about this is not in line with the meaning of what I said. … Stay calm, you lot. … You might get stressed with the stupidity of the person you are crazy about.”

“Should I feel shame or pity or sympathy for all these followers of Thaksin?  Those who come into my blog and use insulting words that some of these despicable red shirts use, well, it’s same thing with the person who they’re taken in by. I’m only a normal citizen who refuses to let an evil family or a stupid bunch sit in charge of this country. I’m ashamed.”

“If there are another 15 million people who hate me because I said “stupid bitch”, then I’m actually happy that there’re still 50 million out there who don’t hate me or love me.”

As a reaction to Akeyuth’s reference to northern women, Thai Facebook users have formed a page , demanding that he apologize to women from the north. By 10.20pm around 700 users clicked “Like” on the page. The page also features a profile of Akeyuth, who was charged with fraud and treason, forcing him to flee the country.

Akeyuth, owner of Thaiinsider.com which opposed the Thaksin government, was in the past accused in the Charter Investment case. After thousands of complaints, the authorities frozen the assets of Akeyuth, his company and shareholders to sell them on the market. He was also charged with rebellion for his involvement in a failed coup attempt in 1985, and fled the country. He then changed his name to George Tan and lived in exile in Switzerland. Later, he moved to New York and started businesses in the Wall Street stock market and property investment. He now has businesses in London and Kuala Lumpur.

Akeyuth returned to Thailand after the statute of limitations in his case expired. He became news again in 2004, when, with Amarin Koman, he approached the Democrat Party to conduct political negotiations. There were accusations that Akeyuth tried to give money to the Democrat Party to overthrow the Thaksin government, but the Democrat Party publicly denied it and said they received no money.

In the same year, Akeyuth joined “People for the Nation and the Monarchy” group and organized a rally at Sanam Luang in September calling for the dismissal of Thaksin Shinawatra, but few people joined the rally.  He later appeared from time to time criticizing and attacking Thaksin, and launched his personal website. He also sometimes criticizes and attacks PAD leader Sondhi Limthongkul.
