Democracy in Burma Concern Group, Mahidol University

Today is the National Day for the People's Republic of China, we would like to take this opportunity to remind the Chinese government the background that they took power from the oppressive regime. There will be a protest in front of the Chinese Embassy organized by the Democracy in Burma Concern Group, Mahidol University.

Fifty-eight years ago, the Chinese Communist Party overthrew the oppressive and corrupted regime under the Republic of China. Now the Burmese protestors are just doing the same as the Chinese Communist Party has done.

Chinese government is one of the key players in politics in Burma. In the meantime that people in Burma are suffering from the repressive regime and protestors are being killed. China has obligation to support the fundamental interests of the people. However, we are tremendously appalled that Chinese government has been supporting arms to the Burmese junta to suppress its people. As such, we have a protest against the Chinese government to demand its intervention in Burma. For the details of our demands, please also see the attached statement.
