Red-shirts leaders ask parents to take children to a safe area. To leave or stay at the site is a free choice.
After the government declared its curfew plan, Nuttawut Saikua, a red-shirt leader, affirmed that any protester who wants to go home may leave at will. The leaders asserted that they will stay at the site and will not use children or women as human shields. Protesters who wanted to remain at the protest site were requested to take their children to a safe area such as Pathumwanaram temple. The leaders will meet to discuss their response to the government's curfew later today.
As of 14.30, 16th May, protesters’ food supplies had decreased significantly since the demonstration site is cut off from further supplies. The site is also faces sanitation problems as Bangkok waste collectors are not allowed to enter the area. The red-shirt leaders requested protesters not to dump garbage in front of the Police Hospital to prevent further problems. The water supply is still working.
