A clip of red shirts in Nakhon Phanom receiving money has been posted on the ASTV-Manager, The Nation and YouTube websites, and has been shared and discussed through the Facebook network and on webboards. A local red-shirt leader says that the money was from donations they had received from their fund-raising activities, and was distributed as petrol expenses for the red shirts to come to Bangkok.
The clip was posted in two parts (one & two) in the video section of the Nation website with only the caption: Look what's going on in Nakhon Phanom as local red shirts are preparing to leave for Bangkok to join the mass rallies on Sunday.
The red shirts in the clip are seen to be handing out and receiving money. Driver’s licenses and ID cards are checked, while recipients read out the numbers of their vehicles’’ license plates. A voice using a microphone can be heard saying in the local dialect, ‘… send moral support. Those who can’t go can give money to help.’
Chavalit Wichayasut, local red-shirt leader and Phuea Thai MP for the province, told TPBS (in the clip above) that the money was from donations they had received in fund-raising activities at a local temple to support the red shirts’ rally.
INN News reported on 8 March about a Nakhon Phanom red shirt fund-raising activity at the local temple, collecting some 200,000 baht.
