The Nation Channel headlined a news report ‘Red Shirts in Lampang throw stones at a villager’s house’, while the news was actually about an incident where red shirts surrounded a villager’s house after being stoned by the villager.

The content of the news report, which was posted in the website’s Breaking News section on 16 Dec, told a different story from the headline.

Police from Mae Tha station in Lampang Province were called in to take control of an incident in Mae Wa Village, San Don Kaeo Subdistrict, where over 30 red shirts were surrounding a house, whose owner was believed to have thrown stones at their gathering in the village on 14 Dec, damaging their PA system and injuring many of them.  About 150 red shirts had gathered to prepare their protest to oust the Minister of Information and Communications Technology who had been scheduled to come to Tha Nae Village in Mae Tha District on 17 Dec to open the subdistrict’s ICT Centre.

According to the report, the police managed to take control, as the house owner agreed to come out to make apologies and take responsibility.  The red shirts then agreed to disperse.
