Defend Job Philippines together with the Triumph International workers in the Philippines strongly condemn the inhumane actions of the Thai police against our fellow workers of Triumph International in Thailand.

The warrant of arrest issued on August 27 to the three leaders; Sunthorn Boonyod, Bunrawd Saiwong and Jitra Kotchadej of the Triumph International Thailand Labor Union and the desperate use of the Thai Police of a Long Range Acoustic Device to disperse the workers’ protest on the 27th of August is a clear manifestation of deprivation of the freedom of speech and the right to assembly of the workers as stated in the universal declaration of human rights and international labor standards.

Our fellow Triumph International workers in Thailand along with thousands of Triumph workers in the Philippines are victims of injustice committed by the German-Swiss multi-national Triumph International.  We are fighting against the anti-worker, inhumane and unjust effect of the global restructuring program of Triumph International which resulted to the massive retrenchment and displacement of Triumph workers and families.

Triumph International is the one who blatantly attacks our right to job security, right to self-organization and the right to live.  But why, we the workers are the one treated like criminals.

Triumph International busted our unions and took away all our hard won victories.  But why it is us, the workers who are considered to be the offenders?

Triumph is violating our labor rights and extracted wealth from the workers.  But why, it is the workers who were issued warrant of arrest?

Triumph neglects its obligation to the workers and ignores the cry of the workers for justice but why, it is the workers who were dispersed using a Long Range Acoustic Device?

Thus, we call on our fellow workers in Triumph to intensify our struggles to defend our jobs, rights and welfare and to lead and inspire the Thai people in our fight against anti-worker and anti-people liberalization policies of multi-national corporations and their governments.

We appeal to our fellow workers of Triumph worldwide to support and hold solidarity/sympathy actions to condemn the injustice of Triumph International, the Thai Police’s repressive actions and the government of Germany and Switzerland for disregarding such inhumane acts.

We call on the Thai people to support the fight of the Triumph International workers and Thai workers.

We challenge the Thai Parliament and Government to safeguard the rights and welfare of the Triumph workers and take heed to the just calls for justice of the workers and their families.

And finally, we vow our unwavering solidarity with the Triumph workers in Thailand and hand in hand continue our struggles to defend our rights and welfare and for social justice.

JUSTICE FOR THE WORKERS OF TRIUMPH INTERNATIONAL AND TO ALL VICTIMS OF INJUSTICE! JUSTICE FOR SUNTHORN BOONYOD, BUNRAWD SAIWONG AND JITRA KOTCHADEJ!
