Oxfam GB, CARE, and ActionAid on behalf of Bangkok Development Forum in cooperation with Institute for Human Development (New Delhi) will organise a a regional panel discussion on'Global Economic Crisis and Implications for Developing Countries' on Saturday 30th May, at Panorama Room, Amari Boulevard Hotel, Bangkok.

The panel discussion is aimed to identify options for social policy response from the perspective of civil society in responding to global economic crisis. It is aimed to attract at least 50 participants from NGOs, UN staff, academics, university students and other interested people.

The critical issues for discussion include

1. Implications of global crisis on poverty and vulnerability and employment in developing countries - regional and national policy measures and theianalysis.

2. Policy coherence and institutional capacities to respond to the crisis in developing countries.

3. Agenda for reforming global institutions

4. Financial system reforms and regulation at the international and national levels

5. Development cooperation and assistance in the context of global crisis (to support socialpolicy responses)
