The Criminal Court has sentenced Prinn Panichpakdi, the former deputy leader of the Democrat Party, to 2 years and 8 months of imprisonment without parole for sexually assaulting an 18-year-old female university student at a restaurant and later at his apartment, according to the Office of the Attorney General’s Deputy Spokesman, Kosolwat Intuchanyong.

According to Kosolwat, the Office of the Attorney General issued an order to prosecute Prinn on 12 separate sexual offence charges. On August 10, the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court reached a verdict in one case and sentenced Prinn to 2 years and 8 months in prison without parole for two counts of sexual assault committed in a 2021 incident, where he used the ruse of career discussions and stock market guidance to deceive his victim at a Sukhumvit Soi 11 rooftop restaurant

The victim reported the incident to Lumpini Police Station in April 2022. Afterward, several more female victims came forward to report additional cases and provide further complaints.

According to Kosolwat, the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court is scheduled to read a verdict on September 25 in another case in which Prinn is accused of committing sexual offences against a different young woman. The remaining cases are still under investigation.
