The election of the 30th Prime Minister of Thailand has been arranged for July 13th at 09:30 am, according to the recently elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, Wan Muhammad Noor Matha. He further stated that the Senate has already been engaged in the discussion of the timeframe.
Noor Matha also affirmed that if the 376 votes required to elect a Prime Minister are not achieved in one session, subsequent meetings will be scheduled until the Prime Minister is elected, taking into consideration the readiness of the assembly.
The news emerged after the House Speaker met with Pornpit Petchcharoen, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, and other relevant officials to make arrangements for the ceremony to receive the royal command establishing the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as the framework for the opening session of the House of Representatives and the joint session of Parliament.
It has been determined that if the ceremony to receive the royal command for the establishment of the Speaker of the House of Representatives takes place, the first meeting of the Lower House will be scheduled for Wednesday, July 12th.
Noor Matha expressed optimism that it is feasible for the vote to elect the Prime Minister to succeed in a single session. However, he also noted the possibility of multiple names being proposed for the position of Prime Minister during a session.
