Three student activists have filed a complaint against ultra-royalist group member Akkarawut Kraisisombat, after he posted their pictures and threatened violence against them.

Over the past year, as pro-democracy activists continue to face repression and prosecution, the monarchy reform movement has begun to wane. Ultra-royalist groups, once known for filing serial royal defamation complaints and physical attacks on pro-democracy activists, have turned to campaigning against migrant workers.

A leader of the Myanmar migrant worker network Bright Future was attacked by members of an ultra-royalist group this morning (5 April) while arriving at a protest against Myanmar’s junta leader in front of the UN headquarters in Bangkok.

Members of ultra-royalist groups attacked activists and citizen journalists during a gathering in the Siam shopping district on Saturday (10 February), injuring 10 activists, 2 citizen journalists, and another person observing the gathering.

Ultra-royalist groups who have been filing royal defamation complaints against pro-democracy activists and netizens, are often seen as laughing stocks, but they have made some wave with their campaigns

Anon Klinkaew, leader of the ultra-royalist group People’s Centre to Protect the Monarchy, has threatened to kill a 15-year-old monarchy reform advocate, because she refused to take part in the judicial process after being charged with royal defamation.
