Amid concerns that armed clashes along the Thailand-Cambodia border could disrupt the upcoming general election, Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) Secretary-General Sawang Boonmee said that the ECT can manage voting in the border provinces and the election will not be postponed.

Despite the Constitutional Court’s dismissal of a treason complaint filed against the Pheu Thai Party and its patriarch, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) says that it will continue its investigation into accusations against Pheu Thai.

Due to concerns about vote manipulation, senate candidates have called on the Election Commission (EC) to suspend the Senate election results and thoroughly review the qualifications of the newly elected senators.

The Administrative Court has revoked the Election Commission (EC)’s regulations on Senate candidate introductions, saying that the regulations are unconstitutional as they excessively infringe on the right to freedom of expression. Nevertheless, the Court order will not be effective until the EC expresses its intention not to appeal the verdict.
