Political exile Surachai Danwattananusorn, also known as Surachai Sae Dan, has been officially declared a missing person five years after his disappearance in 2018.

<p>In a panel discussion, the wife of a disappeared exile slammed the official process as ineffective, an MP pledged to restrengthen the watered-down anti-torture bill, and the granddaughter of a leading political family implicated in an enforced disappearance generations ago apologised for what her ancestors did.</p>

<p>On 25 February 2019, Pranee Danwattananusorn, wife of disappeared political exile Surachai Saedan, filed a report with&nbsp;Pol Lt Gen Suksawat Bua-in, Deputy Superintendent of Tha Uthen District Police Station, for her missing husband.&nbsp;</p>
