<p>A real estate dealer has been sentenced to 12 years in prison under the lèse majesté law for making claims about the former royal consort for business interests. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>On Tuesday, 5 April 2016, the Criminal Court sentenced Boontham Boonthepprathan, 65, a property dealer, to 16 years in jail under Article 112 of the Criminal Code, the lèse majesté law.&nbsp; The court reduced the sentenced by one fourth to 12 years because the accused was cooperative during the trial.</p>
<div>The criminal court on Thursday sentenced a man to five years in jail for lèse majesté based on claims about the former royal consort in a land encroachment case. </div>

<p>The Criminal Court sentenced two high ranking policemen charged with lèse majesté and misconduct to 12 years in prison.</p> <p>The Criminal Court on Friday afternoon sentenced Pol Lt Gen Pongpat C., ex-Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, and Pol Maj Gen Kowit R., former Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, to 12 years in prison in total under three offences. &nbsp;</p>
<p>The police arrested the wife of a high-ranking police officer and charged her with lèse majesté for allegedly using the name of the monarchy to sell overpriced chili paste and other food products.</p> <p>Pol Maj Gen Sombat Milintachinda, chief investigator of the Metropolitan Police, and several other police officers arrested Sudathip M., the 45-year-old wife of Pol Col Kowit M., former Director of Immigration Police of Samut Sakhon Province, after the criminal court issue a warrant for her arrest on lèse majesté charges.</p>
<p>Three brothers and two more people connected to a network of high ranking police officers charged with lèse majesté are accused of defaming the monarchy, illegal possession of weapons, robbery, and holding others for ransom. A total of seven people involved in this case have now been charged with lèse majesté. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>The investigators on 28 November detained three siblings, Natthapol, Sitthisak, and Narong Akharapongpreecha, and&nbsp;Sutthisak Sutthijit&nbsp;and Chakan Phakphum, who are allegedly criminally associated with Pol Lt Gen Pongpat Chayapan.</p>
<div>A court on Saturday approved an arrest warrant for two high ranking police officers accused of defaming the King, asking for bribes, money laundering and misconduct.&nbsp;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>On the same warrant, three other police officers and three civilians were named. </div>
