Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR), a legal firm which provides pro-bono representation for pro-democracy activists and protesters, has been threatened with violence for provided legal support to two activists arrested on charges, including sedition, for allegedly honking their car horn at and blocking a royal motorcade.

Following allegations on social media that activist Sirawith Serithiwat was attacked by debt collectors, Patnaree Charnkij, Sirawith’s mother, insisted that her family no longer has any informal debts and that it is unlikely that Sirawith’s attack was a result of money being owed.

It has been a month since Siam Theerawut went missing along with two other refugees, Chucheep “Uncle Sanam Luang” Chiwasut and Kritsana Tupthai, after it was reported that they had been arrested in Vietnam and extradited to Thailand on 8 May. So far, neither the Thai nor Vietnamese authorities have disclosed information about the three men’s fate.

In pursuance to a string of recent attacks of at least three pro-democracy activists including Ekkachai Hongkangwan who was physically assaulted seven times and had his car set on fire twice since early 2018, and of late on 13 May 2019, Ekkachai was violently attacked in front of the Bangkok Criminal Court after attending a hearing on the case against activists who have protested to demand the election.
